Introduction
Do you want to shape the future of high‑precision cryogenic technology? As the Head of Cryogenic Systems, you will take on full technical responsibility for our cryogenics portfolio – from high‑performance cryostats and compressors/cooling machines to integrated microscopy modules. You will lead a team of around seven highly qualified engineers, define technological advancements and product quality, and develop a clear, future‑oriented technology roadmap. Our ambition is to empower the forefront of cryogenic nanoscale research with the most reliable, lowest‑vibration, and most intuitive tools — and you will play a key role in continuing to strengthen this mission.
Your Responsibilities and Duties
- Functional and disciplinary leadership of the cryogenics team (approx. 7 people)
- Development and maintenance of our cryogenics product line from initial concept to production handover
- Ensuring top‑level performance, reliability, and integrability of our systems
- Integration of scanning‑probe and optical microscopes (e.g., AFM, confocal microscopes, SNOM) and superconducting magnets into our cryogenic platforms
- Identification of new technologies, maintenance of a long‑term technology roadmap, and alignment of development priorities with the business unit
- Close collaboration with electronics, mechanics, software, production, and product management
- Promotion of technical excellence, efficient structures, and clear decision‑making processes
- Collaboration with partners and implementation of customer‑specific solutions
Your Skills and Qualifications
- Several years of professional experience with cryogenic systems
- A degree in physics, cryogenics, engineering, mechatronics, or a related discipline, ideally with a PhD
- Experience in development projects for complex systems up to production readiness
- Initial leadership experience with a confident leadership style, strong communication, and structured thinking
- Knowledge of scanning‑probe microscopes (AFM, optical, SNOM) and/or high magnetic fields
- Ability to balance technical, economic, and strategic aspects
- Strong prioritization skills, decisiveness, and enthusiasm for innovative cryogenic technology
- Hands‑on mentality and enjoyment of demanding technical challenges
